About us
Locus Montessorium is an educational institution created due to the strong desire of parents for their children to continue their education in a respectful environment based on Montessori pedagogy, where the child's holistic development and education for peace are at the forefront.
Experienced Montessori educators for the 3-6 and 6-12 age groups gratefully accepted the initiative of parents and, with the awareness of fulfilling their mission, created an environment that enables this.
We strive to provide children with a holistic education through a carefully prepared Montessori environment that supports academic development while nurturing cooperation and well-being.
In addition to the founders, Daša B. Belcijan (Master of Education, Montessori teacher with AMS and Montessori Institute certification) and Noelia J. Bončina Lopez (Bachelor of Arts in English, Montessori teacher with AMS certification), other experienced teachers, pedagogues, and professionals will also be involved.
As teachers, we serve as role models for the children with a love for learning, so we continuously improve ourselves professionally and personally, specializing in Montessori pedagogy and attending seminars in special education, Bal-a-vis-x, MNRI, brain development, etc.
Advantages of the Montessori classroom
-
Prepared environment
Montessori educators carefully prepare and organize the environment to meet the child's developmental and age needs.
-
Age-mixed environment
Children of different ages are included in the learning process so that the younger ones can learn from the older ones and vice versa, which enables cooperation and promotes social development.
-
Independence
Children have freedom within the boundaries and responsibilities. They can choose their work in a prepared environment, which aids in mastering time planning, making decisions, independence, and a love of learning.
-
Imagination and exploration
The curriculum is based on great stories about the world's creation, the origin of living beings, humans, mathematics, and communication, encouraging the child's imagination and the desire to explore all areas that are constantly intertwined and deepened.
-
Peace education
The child and the community are always in the foreground. Children learn to respect themselves, others and the environment in which they live. They practice a calm approach to problems and finding solutions on a daily basis.
-
Holistic development
Montessori pedagogy focuses on the child holistically, responding to the child's physical, social, spiritual, emotional, and academic needs and development.
The interweaving of these elements creates an environment where children can develop into independent lifelong learners who willappreciate and understand the world, who will appreciate and understand the world and change it for the better.
Pre-enrolment
We will open a new private primary school, Locus Montessorium, in September 2025. It will be situated in the heart of Ljubljana (Plečnikov trg 2a, on the premises of the Ursuline Institute).
The school will implement the 9-year Montessori primary school program from Montessori Institute in Ljubljana, which has successfully educated elementary school students for the past 15 years. Montessori Institute will also oversee the implementation of the primary school program at Locus Montessorium.
We plan to enroll our first students in the 2025/26 school year, specifically in grades 1, 2, and 3. As we are still registering with the Ministry of Education, Science, and Sport for inclusion in the registry of publicly recognized education program providers, we are collecting preliminary applications from interested families until February 24, 2025.
